This is not something I am prone to do, filling out a form of get-know-me questions, but I was tagged. And I remember the early days of blogging and what it feels like to be included. So I’m doing, but not tagging, and I’m grateful for Jenna Dean for thinking of me.
What would you say is the most personal piece you’ve written and why?
It is truly difficult to narrow down anything specific about the most personal piece I’ve written. I’ve been blogging since 2000, but I don’t think anything real real that was raw and personal until 2012. When my husband died, my writing changed. I have always written with the intent of sharing all. I have nothing to hide. There’s plenty to browse through at cindymaddera.squarespace.com
What is your favorite personality trait about yourself and how is that reflected in your writing?
I don’t know if it’s a favorite, but it is the most obvious. My commitment to honesty and truth is the personality trait that is the driving force behind most of my writing. I don’t see any reason for sharing anything that is not honest or factual (backed up with peer-reviewed data). It is probably why I am scientist.
What is your favorite piece you’ve written and why?
Oh Hell…I don’t know. Maybe this one I wrote about Barbie? There are so many pieces that I’ve written that may not be all that good, but they’re still pieces I’m proud of. Every time you post, you are allowing for vulnerability and this leads to bravery.
What is the last thing (poem, book, article) that you read and made you feel truly seen?
I’m a garbage reader right now and genuinely avoid ‘self-help’ books. So much of my job is reading scientific papers and when I read for fun I want it to be FUN. I’m currently reading Project Hail Mary which is nerdy and funny and tense all at the same time. Kind of like me.
What motivates you to write?
My brain contains a constant stream of chatter. Writing down some of that chatter clears my head but also helps adjust and change negative behaviors. Writing is my therapy.
This is wonderful 😊 thank you for sharing!
